The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration In An Age of Colorblindness

Michelle Alexander exposes the stark reality of the current state of racism in America.  She uncovers the intentional use of policy and legislation to craft new Jim Crow laws that control citizens of color through mass incarceration.  Ms. Alexander substantiates statistical facts that show mass incarceration is being used as a tool to relegate millions of citizens to second-class citizenship through felony charges and selective prosecution of African American and Latino males, for drug possession, which takes away their rights to vote and earn a living while insuring that the continued growth of the criminal justice industry.
